Ding Dong,

This one's especially for those of you who've been complaining about the lack of round-robin emails clogging up your inbox telling you about the lastest goings on in Leeds. Yes that's right it's time for another incredibly exciting Technique news letter. And may I first say merry christmas to one and all,
big love to everybody who's helped us make it to the end of 2003 and the beginning of what looks to be a very exciting 2004. May Santa shower you with fabulous
gifts.

Well bugger me with a barge pole if Funk D'Void and Steve Bug didn't rock the shit out of the Mint two weeks ago. The trouble with getting amazing DJs to play is that one tends to get slightly carried away and end up passing out in random people's houses with no recollection of where you are, how you got there or
where you're meant to be. Such was the problem for all in attendance a fortnight ago. Despite this we're already looking forward to having both guys back, but only if Steve promises to attempt spinning on his head again.

Coming up we have a truly great festive period planned, starting with the annual Christmas party this Saturday with our lovely resident MEAT KATIE returning alongside long time heroes of ours HYBRID making their Technique debut. That's what we like, a proper breaks rinseout just in time for all you departing students to celebrate your end of term. You know what to expect, last year saw everyone wearing Santa hats and Phil Kieran dropping Depeche Mode, this year everyone will be wearing Santa hats and waiting with baited breath for the festive delights these stalwarts of the breaks scene will be pulling out of their boxes. £8 in, 10pm-6am.

Then on 31st December it's the INAUGURAL TECHNIQUE NEW YEAR'S EVE PARTY!!!!
Going head to head with our cousins ASYLUM, the Mint club's two resident Saturday nights join forces for one night only with ressies PBR STREETGANG, DAVE MARTIN, DAN WARD, JAY KILKA, SI BAKER and KID BLUE spinning top quality tuneage from across the whole spectrum of underground dance music until the early hours. Listed at No. 3 in Mixmag's top 30 NYE nights out, lack of big name guests means the door price is an unbeatable £12 only, and we think you can't get a much better value for money NYE experience. With all sorts of treats and decor going into the club this looks set to be a belter, and with tickets going fast make sure you get yours soon! You can pick 'em up from all the usual places, plus Sole in Sheffield and the Disc in Bradford. Those of you too far down South to easily reach the party capital of the UK can book by credit card, just ring 0113 242 0506 and speak to Jason, but ladies beware, he's a bit of a player. Oh and don't forget the New Year's Day after party at a top secret location - venue through the grapevine.

Heading on into 2004, we have two great parties lined up with the MOSTWANTED ALL STARS banging out the delights on January 10th, and then the wonderful STOMPAPHUNK ressies making the long trip up from Brighton on January 24th.
Could it get any better? Well yes it could because we've just confirmed MATTHEW HERBERT for the 3rd birthday party on February 7th. Oh my god I've just wet
myself.

Anyway, enough from me. If you don't hear from us before have a top Xmas and a fantastic New Year, but if you've got any sense you'll be spending it with us up here in sunny Leeds!

Danke (thank you in German) xxx

Hi there folks,

Hope you have all recovered and are ready for the next installment of TECHNIQUE action.  Thanks to everybody who made it down to see the roadblock that was Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard AKA JEDI KNIGHTS at the club, two weeks ago.  Well, wasn't that a bit special?  An exlcusive four and a half hour set from the guys- one of only 4 this year!!!  From Hip Hop to Techno in one set and without any seams, wow.

So what have we got for you this week?  Not one but two UK exclusives, FUNK D'VOID of  the mighty Soma recordings will be flying in from Barcelona to give us some some of his trademark jackin and beautiful techno.  Alongside Mr D'Void we also have, for his first appearance ever outside of London STEVE BUG arriving from Berlin.  Steve is the head honcho of the hugely influential POKER FLAT RECORDS and general master of all things twisted and deeeep! He will be DJing with the aid of the software revolution that is Final Scratch. They will be ably assisted by our very own DAVE MARTIN, and if he's still standing JAY KILKA (it's his birthday y'know, just don't ask him how old he is!)  This really is one, not to be missed.  Doors (and the bar) open at 10pm and close when you drop, and entry is priced at a very reasonable £8, bargain that's what we say.

You can also catch Dave Martin's interview and guest mix on the LSR Club Show, tomorrow at 6:30pm on 106.6fm (or at www. lsrfm.com, for those of you out of range or overseas).

And as if that wasn't enough, we have a special treat for you lot down there in the BIG SMOKE, TECHNIQUE will be taking up a new London residency at MEAT KATIE and RENNIE PILGREM's HUM @ THE FORTRESS in the new year.  You are soooo lucky =0)

For now we'll keep the other London plan under raps and won't say too much about Dave's trip to Madrid early in 2004.

Au Revoir for now amigo's, see you at the club

4 May 2003...

Hey gang,

Well, we're all recovering from sunstroke - gone are the days of us all moaning about the Yorkshire cold up here at Technique Towers, Leeds hit 25 degrees this weekend and we were all out playing in the sun. Apparently so was the rest of Leeds, from midday onwards, which explains the slightly smaller crowd than usual for Nathan Coles and Big Hair, however for those that were there we were treated to an absolutely storming night of tech-house right out of the top drawer. Add to that some extremely naughty behaviour (snorting Advocaat at eight in the morning anyone?) and one hell of a good night was had by all. Big love to Nathan, Chris, Aaron and Stevino for keeping us all amused with their antics, it won't be long before they return we're sure.

Two weeks previously saw Miss Kittin's debut and boy did that go off. Bringing her unique brand of techno to Technique, the first lady of the scene literally blew the roof off, turning the dancefloor into a veritable mosh-pit in the process and leaving the Technique faithful begging for more. And she was nice enough to say it was one of her favourite gigs in the UK - flattery will get you everywhere my dear! One of the best nights down at Oslo, yet another one we're sure you'll be seeing grace the decks again soon.

On the Sunday in between the MostWanted crew threw a fantastic bank holiday party down at Revolution with our mates the Stanton Warriors, who rocked out so much the sound system had a coronary (or whatever a sound system's equivalent of a coronary is). Much respect to the ever resourceful John St John, manager of said bar, who managed to resuscitate it and keep the party rocking. Big props to the Stantons for their cut ups of Metro Area and Groove Armada and to the MostWanted all-stars for finishing off the night with 'Rock the Casbah' and Betty Boo's 'Where Are You Baby?'. Left all those pissed up revellers screaming for more.

We're getting ready to go weekly from the 12th July onwards, but before then we have the wonderful Meat Katie returning with his mate Elite Force on 14th June. Anybody who has heard their recent collaborations on Kingsize and TCR will know just how good this one will be. It's been a while since Elite Force has been up so we're particularly looking forward to that one.

Then we see the first ever Kilowatt Recordings party on 28th June with DJ Hyper and Stir Fry. Hyper's Bedrock Breaks mix album has gone down a storm recently, and those of you familiar with Stir Fry's chunky, funky breaks sound will want to make sure you check this out. And it gives you a chance to forget that you missed out on tickets for Glastonbury.

On the 12th July we have ex-Red Snapper main man Richard Thair manning the Technique decks for the second time, guaranteed to rock the party with his eclectic mix of breaks, electro and dubbed out grooviness. Add to that a set from rising stars the Deckshufflers (not in any way responsible for the Shuffle Ya Booty EP doing the rounds at the moment), and it's yet another party undoubtedly going to go off.

So there you go, that's our news, coming up this Friday 6th June you can see Technique residents Kid Blue, Jay Kilka and Dave Martin guesting down at Firstfriday at Medussa in Brixton alongside Duncan Gray from Sons of Slough and the World Krack Cartel. Entry is a very reasonable £5 so all you big-smokers, get off yo asses and come and shake your booty!

Until next time.

Peace.

Hey gang,

Well, it's been another exciting couple of weeks for the Technique crew. Hopefully you'll all have noticed that we're now officially the number 1 club night in the country (well, according to Mixmag anyway) and it's about time too if you ask us. Looks like all those years of refusing to compromise are finally starting to pay off! Technique just keeps on getting bigger and better, and we'd like to say thanks to all of you for your continued support over the past two years. We've had some amazing nights recently - Colin Dale came up on March 8th playing some of the most beautiful tech-house-disco we've heard in a while, ably supported by the big man Kid Blue, dishing out his unique brand of stomping 4/4. A quality night was had by all, big love to all who made it down to catch the non-breaks side of Technique, there'll be more to come.

Pea Green Boat have been busy - they were at Chew the Fat making their Brixton debut on Friday 14th. Top night, many thanks to the London crew for making the trip. They also celebrated the launch of their album on Sunday at Revolution in Leeds to a highly appreciative crowd. The boys will be appearing on XFM this Friday night on 'The Remix Show', 9pm-11pm, with a half hour guest mix that showcases the more up-tempo side to their sound, check it out on 104.9 FM. They'll also be having a London album launch party a week on Wednesday (that's April 2nd) at Market Place, 11 Market Place, London, W1 (it's near Oxford Circus tube station), with a special 2 hour live/DJ set showcasing their fantastic first album 'Two Way Traffic' as well as a whole load of new stuff. You don't want to miss this.

This weekend saw the return of our wandering superstar resident DJ Meat Katie, this time accompanied by Justin Drake of Peace Division fame, and fuck me it was a blinder. Top funky techhousebreaks just the way we like it up here accompanied by a truly amazing set from the friendliest man in Leeds, Jay Kilka. Oh and by the way Mr Katie, there'll be no going early next time - we'll be locking you up in a hotel room until we're satisfied with how wrecked you are and only then will we let you leave! Shouts to Andy C - last night at Technique for a while - leaving for Korea for a year to become a Tae Kwon Do master, we'll miss you mate, but we'll be here when you get back.

Coming up we've got a good few nights for ya, with Duncan Gray and Darkglobe on April 5th giving us the next installment of the Whole9Yards tech funk sessions. Anyone who has heard Duncan's electro-house releases as one half of Sons of Slough or under his own name on Salt Hill recordings will know this is going to be one hell of a chunky house session, and we can only begin to imagine quite how rinsing Matt Darkglobe's breaks will be. We're drooling just thinking about it. Then on April 19th it's the return of those breakbeat superstars the Plump DJs, and oh my gosh it's a bank holiday weekend. This one could get messy. It'll be followed on Sunday 20th with an after party to be held at the beautiful Northern Light - Technique taking the downstairs floor, Playmusic the upstairs and Mr Nightmares on Wax himself DJ E.A.S.E in the third room. Anybody left standing wins a special prize!

As if that wasn't enough, we're proud to announce our May Bank Holiday weekend line up - on the Saturday May 3rd we have the longest running breaks label, TCR, celebrating 10 years of cutting edge dancefloor mayhem with a birthday party of gargantuan proportions featuring Sir Rennie Pilgrem, BLIM and Koma and Bones. That's also in conjunction with Perfecto records celebrating the launch of Rennie's Perfecto Breaks compilation. Then on Sunday May 4th we're proud to announce the official Most Wanted after party with VERY special guest Mr David Holmes. We'll be selling combined tickets for both events available from Loop Records so make sure you don't miss out - get your tickets now!

Anyway, that's probably enough for now, so keep cool kids.

Peace.

Coming up.....from the Most Wanted Crew

MAR/06/2003

Hey gang,

It's been another fun couple of weeks up here at Technique Towers. Not only has the temperature in Leeds actually risen above zero for the first time in months, but we've also had some cracking nights, namely the wonderful Mr Chris Carter from TCR tearing the place up last weekend with his tough-and-funky electro breaks set. Some absolutely storming tunes in there, a whole load of our favourites, alongside a thumping warm-up from the thump-meister himself, McQueen. Many thanks to Chris for a wicked set, and what a nice guy he is too. Fair play for seeing the morning in with us lot, who were on one due to it being Caz's leaving do - you'll be missed mate, the dancefloor at Technique just won't be the same without you. Anyway, there's more to come from TCR in the next few months, which we'll tell you about later.

Then it was off down to London to the breaks awards on Thursday, and all we can say is that from the reports we've heard back, we apologise profusely for Rory and Ruthie's behaviour. B-52s at half seven when everybody else was easing themselves into it gently ... oh dear. Congrats particularly to Rennie Pilgrem for his "Most Valuable Person in Breakbeat" award - thoroughly deserved - and well done to everyone else who picked up a gong. The only improvement would have been Technique picking up best club, but hey, there's always next year. Big love to all the London crew who were so hospitable - we'll be down again soon.

Coming up this week (8th March) we have Colin Dale of Kiss FM fame touching down in Leeds for the first time any of us lot can remember to show us all just why he's been so influential in UK dance music for the past fifteen or so years. Anyone who has heard his Abstrakt Dance show will know what to expect - quality house, tech-house and techno that always keeps it funky, get ready to shake your booty till the early hours. Entrance is £5 before twelve so head down early - warming up will be the lovely Dave Martin and Kid Blue, who haven't played together for a while so it promises to be a stormer from start to finish.

On March 14th, MostWanted's very own Pea Green Boat will be making their debut at Chew the Fat at Brixton's Bug Bar, alongside Soul of Man's Justin Rushmore and the wonderful Kid Kenobe. For those of you in the big smoke who haven't yet checked out the PGB live experience make sure you head down to catch the body-rocking beats and blissed out melodies that are fast becoming the duo's trademark. For those of you who have, you'll know that you won't want to miss this.

Then back in Leeds, we have the return to Technique of the Whole9Yards residency on 22nd March, with Meat Katie jetting back from his current tour of Australia to drop some chunky breaks and beats alongside Peace Division's Justin Drake, so those of you who are into your tribal tech-edged house will be drooling at the thought of this one.

After that we've got a storming April and May coming up:

April 5th: Duncan Gray (Sons of Slough) & Darkglobe (W9Y)

April 19th: Plump DJs

May 3rd: TCR 10th Birthday party with Rennie Pilgrem, BLIM & Koma and Bones

May 17th: Miss Kitten

And that's not forgetting the two massive MostWanted Sunday bank holiday parties at Revolution in May with a VERY special guest on May 4th which we're going to keep a secret, and the return of our mates the Stanton Warriors on May 25th. Whew! I think we need to start getting into training now!

Anyway, that's probably enough for now, so keep cool kids, and we'll see you down the front at a party somewhere soon.

Peace.

Most Wanted News...

FEB/21/2003

Hey gang,

WHAT A NIGHT! The Technique 2nd birthday party went of with a BANG last weekend, Tom "the Jedi" Middleton wrecking the place in his inimitable fashion - it wasn't a dancefloor, more like a fucking mosh pit! Some quality MCing from the man as well, he was even heard to be rapping at one point. Alongside a top set from Dave Martin and a loverly warm up from Mr McQueen, the joint was certainly jumping, what an incredible way to see in your second birthday, big love to the crew who made it down, bad luck to those who didn't and many thanks to Mr Middleton, we'll see you when we're three!

Coming up this week MostWanted are hosting a room at Motion in Bristol on thursday. It's being held at the Thekla, appearing in the main room are Mickey Finn and Mulder from Urban Takeover, so any of you down there make sure you make it down to check out the sounds. Then next week we have Kid Blue and McQueen appearing at Playdough alongside Ali B at the West Indian Centre in Leeds, that's on the Friday 21st, and the night after (22nd) we have the truly exceptional Chris Carter from TCR appearing at Technique.

For those of you who don't know, Chris' production work for the likes of TCR, Botchit & Scarper, Forged Recordings and Track has earned him a reputation as one of the most consistent producers on the breakbeat scene, his funky electro/breaks crossover sound slaying dancefloors worldwide. He's one of our favourite producers by a long way, and we thouroughly recommend that you check this one out.

Don't forget that following Mr Carter we have the wonderful Colin Dale of Kiss FM and Fabric coming up on March 8th and Meat Katie & Justin Drake on March 22nd. We'll even be starting membership in the next few weeks, to allow all you lovely people to get in easier and cheaper! Keep well amigos, we'll see you next Saturday.

Peace.

FEB/05/2003

Howdy folks, hope this news doesn't find you all too freezing cold. If there's one thing we don't like about Leeds it's the arctic wind that makes it about -10 all the time, but hey ho, mustn't grumble, there's some top nights out to be had coming up, and the past month has been a riot.

Pea Green Boat's debut at Technique was a roaring success, the busiest it's been for a good year and a bit. Thanks to all those who made it down, Rory and Mits for rocking the place, and let's not leave it another two years before you play again! You can now buy the album "Two Way Traffic" for a very reasonable £10 on the shop page, and it's not even in the shops until March 24th, so get buying! The guys will be doing more gigs in the next month or so, two in Newcastle, Big Soup in Kings Cross, and an album launch party at Revolution in Leeds so keep your eyes peeled.

Then it was off to Tangled in Manchester on Saturday night for the inaugural Tangled vs Technique showdown. Everyone decided that it would be unfair to declare an overall winner, as both posses got equally messy and the DJs (Kid Blue & McQueen from Technique and Steve from Tangled) rocked it in equal amounts. So we decided the only option left was a rematch, due to take place later in the year. Can't wait. Big love to the Tangled crew for making the evening so enjoyable, hope to see you over on the right side of the pennines sometime soon.

Coming up this week, we're all very excited because our mate Tom Middleton is coming to help us celebrate our 2nd birthday! Yes that's right your favourite tech/beats/breaks/house club (or "anti-club" as the Guardian called us - how cool is that??) has reached the grand old age of two. Make sure you get down early to get your hands on the birthday cake, and we've got a new drinks offer starting this week - two for one on Bud before midnight. Now, we know that Oslo can be a bit pricey for some of the less, erm, solvent of you, so we've badgered them for ages and now you'll be able to drink Bud at £1.30 a bottle, and if you can find me anywhere cheaper in town on a Saturday I'll give you a tenner. It all looks like it's going to be an absolute cracker. Anybody who wants guestlists e-mail us back straight away!

Don't forget coming up after that we have the wonderful Chris Carter from TCR, Kiss FM's very own Colin Dale and the ever brilliant Meat Katie, who's bringing Justin Drake of Peace Division fame with him. Yes that's right, Technique just keeps on getting better and better. There's even a certain Miss Kitten arriving in May - we can't wait (especially Dave 'cos he thinks she's well fit). Anyway, we've got to go so we'll love you and leave you. See you Saturday!

Peace.

Peace.
